Parihaspora to Be Developed as Heritage Tourism Hub
The administration of Jammu and Kashmir has declared its intention to establish the historic archeological site of Parihaspora as a key destination for cultural tourism. In the eighth century, Parihaspora, which lies in the Baramulla area close to Pattan, served as the capital of King Lalitaditya Muktapida of the Karkota dynasty. Grand temples and Buddhist buildings that showcase the area's rich architectural and cultural legacy are among the site's well-known historic ruins.
Over the years, the Parihaspora has been mostly ignored, despite its historical significance. In addition to promoting tourists and the local economy, the new project seeks to maintain its legacy. Infrastructure development, conservation initiatives, and the construction of visitor-friendly amenities including information boards, guided tours, rest places, and digital documentation are all part of the project.
The Archaeology and Tourism Departments will work together to carry out the plan and advertise the location through cultural and educational initiatives. In addition to drawing tourists, the government thinks this action would increase awareness of the area's ancient past and generate job prospects.
The J&K government is working to preserve its illustrious past and promote sustainable tourist development in the area by turning Parihaspora into a heritage tourism destination.
